This family owned business is steeped in tradition. I began my association with VWP in high school, over 30 years ago. Michelle and the staff on the island are knowledgeable and welcoming (friendly does not go far enough). With their knowledge of the park and conditions of the lakes for fishing and the state of the portages, makes for a wonderful paddling experience. If you are a group looking for an outfitter or a guided Quetico experience VWP goes above and beyond with the traditions of the area and the spirit of a bygone era.

My partner and I visited and stayed in the private island cabin in August and it was a wonderful experience. We brought our dog with and she loved being able to explore off leash and go swimming! We also went out on the canoe for a little bit, despite neither of us being very experienced in canoeing. It was the perfect respite from the city before we had to go back to classes in the fall. Our trip out there had to be re-scheduled from June, but Michelle was incredibly accommodating and I am so glad we were able to make it out there! Many thanks to Michelle and the Savoie family!!

On short notice I was searching for a canoe trip for my daughter (13 y/o) and me. Michelle and the Voyageur team were quick to respond and organize the trip of a lifetime. Because we were traveling from Michigan, we chose a full outfitting package complete with high quality equipment, a custom food package, and plenty of guidance. Upon our arrival, we got some food and rest before organizing our gear for the departure the next day. Voyageur made sure we had a thorough understanding of our equipment and best practices to stay safe and have fun in the wilderness. Quetico is an immense area which can be overwhelming especially since we were novices but Michelle suggested a paddle route that was appropriate for our skill level. Even though we're less experienced in both camping and paddling, we felt quite confident when we launched from the quaint island with a friendly wave from Michelle and Dale. Our time in Quetico was fun, challenging. and rewarding Our provided gear never let us down. We are so glad we did this special trip Voyageur Programme and hope to return again perhaps even to have another delicious meal prepared by chef Dale.

Dale and Michelle operate on a tiny slice of heaven drifting in Nirvana.

We arrived at night to a stunning view of every star. Stepping out of my cabin in the morning was a complete shock of beauty.

Michelle and Dale have everything that you need. From gear and camp food down to an extreme interest in you having a fun and safe trip in the park.

Michelle planned our whole trip for us with a detailed maps on where to paddle, camp, and site see.

And Dale cooked us a delicious breakfast before our voyage and sent us off with a cheery grin and wave.

The crew double checked our competencies with our boats, taught us knots, and gave us life saving advice before we set off.

We lucked into two nights at Voyageur Wilderness' "small island" cabin after looking for some drier and warmer alternatives after some seriously wet and cold camping adventures, but not being quite ready to leave the Northwoods. This business is incredible--family-owned for longer than Quetico has been established--and the owners clearly care deeply for the place. Strong environmental and community ethics. Michelle is awesome; she showed us around the big island facilities and told us the history of the place. We did a sauna--highly recommend! Good lake jumping. Beautiful cabin. We loved everything about it.

Absolutely fantastic experience! We did the 6-night canoe trip with a stay at the lodge before and after, and could not be happier or more impressed. Michelle and Dale are fabulous hosts and made sure we were lacking nothing during the stay and on our excursion. The food was excellent—both while at the lodge and during the trip—the facilities spotlessly clean and all our equipment well-maintained. Highly recommended!

Rented a canoe from Voyageur Wilderness for a 6 night trip into the Quetico backcountry. Fantastic experience and a reasonable price for the rental. The VW folks were knowledgeable and helpful. They got us off on the right foot for our first canoe trip and Quetico was remarkable.
