I purchased a leather jacket when they visited my university. I am a tall woman who is pretty flat chested, so I always wear men’s jackets. I asked specifically for one that would be a bit oversized so I could wear sweaters and I also wanted that look. I specifically asked for a men’s fit jacket. I tried on one that seemed too small and then he gave a bigger one. It fit in the shoulders and there was no mirror so I couldn’t see that it was really large in the bust area, meant for someone very differently shaped than me. At this point I had no idea there were men’s vs women’s jackets, and because there wasn’t a mirror and it fit in the shoulders I said it was good. There is a paper that you sign that states the size and the patches but no where on that paper did it state a women’s jacket. So I spent almost $500 on a jacket that doesn’t fit properly at all.

I went to their store later after hating how it fit me and not wanting to wear it, and I asked for it to be altered to be smaller in the bust because they do alterations. I mentioned that there was no mirror and I felt very rushed when trying the jacket on, in addition to the fact that nobody told me there was a men’s fit different from the women’s fit. I even was going to pay for them to alter it even though it was their fault that it didn’t fit. They refused to alter it this way and said the
only thing they could do was make it a women’s size smaller. I tried on the women’s size smaller and it was too tight in the shoulders and still to large in the bust, so I took the jacket home. Not once did they apologize for the fact that they didn’t listen to what I wanted during the fitting even though it’s the most expensive piece of clothing I’ve ever bought.

I’m incredibly disappointed with this service and I still have not been able to get this jacket altered. If your school buys leather jackets from this company, don’t buy it, because if they make a mistake you won’t be able to get a refund or get them to fix it. This company is getting a really good deal by selling all these jackets to university students, and because of this they should be doing a better job. I find the jacket unwearable and I would consider buying a new one except that I don’t want to give this company any more money after how much they have screwed me over.

For the price I thought the jacket would be high quality but there are a lot of faulty things that passed by the quality control somehow which is just ridiculous considering the price , the liner is loosing the stuffing ,one of the pockets is now sewed properly and this is only the second week of me owning the jacket so I’m quite disappointed given the cost .(pictures attached below)

I just had a custom leather jacket made by Export Leather. When I went for my fitting staff came in just for me on a Sunday and where so professional and respectful and i feel the price for a hand made jacketwas excellent. I just received my jacket in the mail and it fits perfectly and is everything I could have dreamed of. Fits perfectly and was delivered exactly in the time promised. The staff kept me up to date and even sent me a picture of my completed jacket. I can't say enough good things I'm so happy. I highly recommend Export Leather if your in the market. I'll definitely do business there again.

My education taught me to speak truth, and that's what I am gonna do. This is by far THE worst service I have personally received among all businesses I have dealt with.

As a tradition of my school, I want to put on some patches of my school & program's logo on my school's leather jacket. I was told by my school that this company supplies the school leather jacket, and they can do the job. So I called in advance, they said it's not a busy time, and they could certainly do it.

I went in, delivered the leather jacket as well as a drawing indicating exactly where I want to put the patches on, and their orientations. The younger business operator of the 2 looked at my drawing and said despite it is more challenging to put patches on an already-made jacket, he is going to do his best. I left my drawing there for their reference.

A few days later I went back, and discovered the patches had wrong orientation, and was exactly the opposite of what we agreed upon in my drawing earlier. So I said to the same guy neither of the 2 patches they put on met my expectations. He took my jacket away from me to another room and demanded I pay for his work regardless. He said, he had been in business for 15 years, and that's how he does things. During that time, he did not propose any resolution, he refused to refund me the money I spent to purchase this jacket he ruined, and he also asked me to leave his shop when I tried to reason with him. And several times, he refused to give me his name.

In the end, I decided to make a compromise to get myself out of the situation. I offered to pay, but he then asked me to take back my money and get the f out...

I understand sometimes businesses screw up things, and most of the time, as long as the business can recognize the problem, resolve the matter and show good service, I would be happy to cooperate, even to recommend them and give my future business if they can handle customer complaints professionally and efficiently. But this business is the very opposite, Mr. Nobody (since he refused to tell me his name, and said he doesn't have a name) had been denying his screw-up for the entire time, and his attitude was not professional at all. As shown by the proper stitching, this business knows what they are doing, they had proper equipment and experienced personnel, but they simply don't care about customer's requirements they had agreed upon. It's a problem of their attitude.

I am speaking out because I know this company not only supplies my school, but also several other engineering universities in Ontario. And I want my fellow peers to be aware of this company's way of doing things.

Not only I would recommend AGAINST going for them for ANY business, I hope Mr. Nobody's arrogance would keep them away from not only leather trade, but ANY trade. As a matter of fact, I still have no idea how such a small business was able to sign with that many big universities in Ontario and supply them with that large volume of leather jackets for that many years.

As for the quality of the U of T engineering leather jacket they supplied. The one I got has 2 different shapes of shoulder lines on both sides, and the letter embroidery was fragile. I've seen upper years had those embroidery done directly in the leather, rather than in recent years, probably due to cost-cutting measures, they did embroidery in another separate piece of fabric and stitched it onto the leather as of a veneer. That fabric they stitched on frays very easily, and the edges and corners lift up in a very short time after wearing. Not a durable choice by any means. As for the leather, it is not full grain, the skin side has been thinned down significantly, a top grain at most. Let me decide again, I wouldn't pay 500 bucks for what I got. Save that money for something better, unless you really want people to know you are one of those u of t engineering kids...

Just picked up my custom jacket and it’s fantastic. It was everything that I wanted and expected. My wife and I are headed to Alberta and it looks like winter is going to linger so I asked Chris if he could put a rush on it and they came through with a week to spare. I had tried another Canadian site not knowing about Export Leather and they couldn’t get their act together but my wife found this site under custom leather coats and the rest is history. Being a senior , it was nice to deal with professionals who recognize the value of ‘old fashioned’ customer service. Well done.

I have spent a very long time looking for leather jackets that fit my frame. I have been relegated to purchasing jackets that didn't really fit me well but that I really loved. I finally found Export and I couldn't be happier. I recently had a custom winter jacket made and the final product is outstanding. These guys work with you to find a style you like, leather you like and customize the sizing to fit your frame. The overall experience here was amazing and I will definitely go back. I wish I found this place 20 years ago. Contrary to what people are saying about the quality, my jacket is amazing and like I said, I've purchased many genuine leather jackets from various dealers over the years. I can only speak to the service I received and it was perfect. The older gentleman worked with me to get the perfect fit the first time.

I bought one of their very first leather motorcycle jackets in the 1970’s. The quality and fit was very good. I went back for another quality, custom made jacket last year. You can’t beat Export Leather for price either. The price was fair.

If you want a leather jacket that will last for many, many years, this is the place. I have a leather jacket from them from the 1990's that is still in excellent condition. When my daughter was old enough to go on the back of my motorcycle, I went here and got her a good motorcycle jacket. She's in her 20's now and still has and wears that jacket. I'm pretty sure that a lot of college and university jackets are made here as well.

It's been a long time since I've bought a leather jacket for riding, but if I ever need one again, this will be the first place I go.
