We stayed at As The River Bends for one night as a little winter getaway. Everything was absolutely lovely! We stayed in the Cedar dome. From the moment we walked up, we were impressed. Every detail has been taken into account. The deck boasted a beautiful and clean hot tub that was very private and looked wonderful with the lights around it at night. Inside was clean and well-maintained. It was plenty warm with the heat pump, electric fireplace, cozy blankets, heated mattress pads, and comfy bed. The kitchen and bathroom had everything you would need and then some. Impressive little features like the essential oil diffuser, hand made mugs with the domes on them, battery operated remote controlled candles, sandals and robes (we used these for going to the hot tub), and the sauna made us feel like we were at a posh private resort. It is obvious the owners take great pride in their retreat. The owners were quick to clear the snow from our deck and the driveway and were super kind and helpful, without being intrusive. We left feeling relaxed and renewed. We will definitely be back!

We spent a weekend at this beautiful retreat and oh boy did it deliver! We wanted a quiet getaway to recharge and connect and this place was absolutely perfect! The dome we stayed in (Maple) was beautifully decorated, seasonally gorgeous which made a December stay that much more special and had everything needed for a weekend stay. |We loved the private hot tub with robes and slippers. The projector which could be used outside on a screen or inside on the dome ceiling was a really cool touch... we cuddled and watched a movie in bed with a glass of wine and snow peacefully falling outside. It was like a dream! |Highly recommend and I believe they are expanding. You can’t beat Nova Scotia hospitality and this place is no exception.

This place is the absolute best! It is so cozy, peaceful, and just perfect for a quiet getaway. We love walking the trails along the river and taking in all that nature has to offer. The accommodations have everything you could possibly need to make yourself at home. The hosts are simply wonderful. We highly recommend staying here to fill your soul!

This small family owned and operated retreat is the most quaint and relaxing place. Our stay exceeded our expectations in every way. There isn’t anything they haven’t thought of, we stayed in the Cedar Dome and I loved the decor and all the little touches. It has everything you need from a pretty well stocked kitchen (including bbq outside!) to lovely products in the bathroom and the coziest bed and linens. They provided robes and sandals to use for the hot tub and paper kindling and wood for the fire . The trails are well maintained easy to find and explore and the property will leave you relaxed and inspired. On the day we arrived there was even an old truck decorated for the perfect fall photo spot. The directions were clear the retreat is easy to find just a few turns off the 101, it’s close to so many places to enjoy we drove to Wolfville and hiked the Harvestmoon Trail and visited the pumpkin people festival. This place is the perfect spot for peace and relaxation away from Netflix, neighbours and traffic- stop scrolling-book your stay you won’t regret it. We will be back! Excited to experience the snow, fire pit and hot tub in winter!

My wife Gail and I were looking for a place to unplug and reconnect. As the River Bends was the perfect place to do that.

The grounds are meticulously maintained and offer several trails that are easy to walk, even in the snow.

We stayed in the Cedars geo dome. From the decor to the amenities, the Cedar was far superior to any of the hotels we have stayed at over the years. Just bring your clothes and your food, everything else you could possibly need is there.

When we booked, we signed up for the Romance package, which included breakfast boxes from local businesses. We also received a selection of local products, all of which were delicious.

Shawna and Mark have outdone themselves with this little piece of heaven. They are both very approachable and more than willing to offer tips on the highlights in the area.

We had such a wonderful stay that we were already discussing our next visit on the drive home.

This is absolutely a perfect getaway!!! Super quiet and private and luxury accommodations with the best decor and amenities!! Shauna and Mark have really made a gorgeous place to come and getaway from it all. We didn't want to leave. We can't wait to return in the summer!!!

What an amazing charming place.
Our Cedar tent was amazing.
Meticulously clean, very well equipped with games, books, bath needs and an "all you need" small kitchen.
Beddings, towels and robs were of good quality.
The outdoor jacuzzi and propane fire pit were a great addition.
We really recommend this place and will come again.
